The
Map of the Underwater Park is a portion of an evolving plan proposed
by The Friends of Kellogg Park and enthusiastically supported
by the La Jolla Shores Association, Scripps Institution of Oceanography and
Birch Aquarium. It will provide numerous educational opportunities to:
- Create
a keen awareness and understanding of the ecological, biological and environmental
features of the ocean
- Foster
stewardship to protect areas of biological significance
- Promote
conservation of indigenous species found in the underwater canyon
If
we are able develop these attitudes and values in our youth today, we will ensure
the preservation of our environment for tomorrow.
This
proposal includes construction of a realistic Lithocrete Map of the La
Jolla Shores Underwater
Park and Marine Reserve. It will be
located adjacent to the boardwalk between the south Comfort Station and the
Children’s Playground. The overall estimated cost of the project is $150,000-175,000.

The sand & dirt area to the right (north) of the new comfort station
where the lithocrete map will be located.
